TEACHER TRAINING COURSE

Application & Acceptance
Manoj and Sandhya conduct the Manasa Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) twice a year. Manasa students interested in taking up the course have to apply, then be interviewed and accepted by Manoj. Consistent practice of yoga for at least a year is a must before acceptance.

Non-Manasa students have to register with the school and complete 60 hours of practice to be considered for acceptance into the Manasa TTC.

Course Outline
The Course consists of a 3-month intensive programme with 1-month teaching practice. The 3+1 TTC integrates an in-depth study of Classical Yoga, including philosophy, asana, breathing practice, and meditation, with practical teaching skills such as teaching vocabulary, safe adjustment skills, sequencing, ethics, and continuing self-practice. This detailed programme ensures that graduates of Manasa Yoga Teacher Training Course are well-equipped to guide students into a safe and rewarding yoga practice.

Besides this extensive training in understanding the core philosophy of yoga as well as knowledge on anatomy and physiology, TTC students are expected to observe a strict yogic lifestyle designed to improve their willpower, self-understanding and inner purity throughout the duration of the course.

Lectures & Self-Practice Diary
Normally lectures are conducted on weekends (either Saturday OR Sunday), allowing students to easily accommodate career and family needs. Students are given a self-practice diary to complete day-to-day, as a record of their progress.

Fees
A fee of RM4000 per TTC student is charged and to be paid in full at the commencement of the Course.

TTC students may attend unlimited number of classes free during the first TWO months of the Course. They will resume paying fees to attend classes from the THIRD MONTH onwards. In the case of Manasa Workshops, TTC students are required to attend and pay the fees accordingly for each Workshop held.

YATRAS

In a physical sense, it is travelling from one point to another. However, for the mental journey, it is about moving from an ego-based self to a state of spiritual insight, peace and joy.’

~ Manoj

Since 2006, Manasa students have been embarking on annual yatras (Sanskrit for ‘journey’). The first yatra to Rishikesh, yoga capital of the world located at the foothills of the Himalayas was followed by the Bali Yatra in 2007, Rishikesh Yatra in 2008 and Lake Kenyir Yatra in July 2009, the first time a Manasa Yatra is held in Malaysia. WORKSHOPS

Manoj and Sandhya hold regular workshops with the primary intention of improving the knowledge of yoga among students. During normal classes, the focus is primarily on practice. In workshops, the focus shifts to making students understand the subtleties behind practice. With enhanced knowledge, it is hoped that students will then be able to use the postures of yoga as effective tools to unlock and explore the infinite consciousness within.
